First Annual SVATU Fly Fishing Rally
Join us for a fly fishing adventure on our home waters! This is a fund raising event for St Vrain Anglers TU Chapter
Date: Saturday, September 17, 2011
Registration: SW corner, north Wal-Mart parking Lot, Longmont- 7:00-8:00 am, or at the September 15 SVATU meeting at the Longmont American Legion, 315 S Bowen St, Longmont, 6:30 pm.
Fishing: Two-person teams, $50/person registration donation
Day end check-in: Oskar Blues Party Barn, Lyons- 4:00-5:00 pm
Venues: St Vrain River (South/Middle/North/Combined) and warmwater lakes and ponds- MAP
Prizes: Top team, top individual, biggest fish, smallest fish, most fish, and whatever else we can make up!
Everyone is welcome at the post-Rally party at the Oskar Blues Party Barn in Lyons. There will be a few special silent auction items to bid on.
The Rules
- Entry is a minimum $50 donation to SVATU per angler, $100 per team, due at sign-in.
- Registration is at 7:00am, September 17, in the Wal-Mart parking lot at 2514 N. Main in Longmont, where you will receive an official scorecard, measuring device and SVATU cap.
- Each team member receives 6 flies for the day, or you can use your own flies for an additional $10. Seven sections in the St. Vrain watershed are available to fish for the contest; each contestant must fish at least four venues, including streams AND/OR lakes/ponds.
- Fishing is restricted to public access waters only.
- To be eligible for prizes, each team member must catch at least one fish per section, and record, by species and size, all fish caught.
- All fish are to be returned to the water unscathed, healthy and happy.
- Only fish hooked in the mouth or in front of the gills count. Apologize profusely to foul-hooked fish.
- Prizes will be awarded for:
- Most fish caught (team)
- Most fish caught (individual)
- Largest fish caught (individual)
- Smallest fish caught (individual)
- Most species caught (team)
- Other catches or events deemed worthy of an award by the judges
- Check-in is at Oskar Blues in Lyons between 4:00 and 5:00 pm. Please be prompt as no entries will be received after 5:00. Anyone in line at 5:00 will be considered to be on time.Judges may be persuaded (bribed) to waive late entries for a donation to the chapter.
